I don't know, I always found it easier to play the level from the perspective of the river running north/south, with one flank at the bottom of my screen and another at the top. The Dwarves are usually placed here to meet the Thrall threat (somewhat of an oxymoron, I know) with the archers in front at the cusp of the hill for maximum range. True, you can't maneuver your middle units as easily, but the middle units don't really need altering until the soulless start their big push, followed by the rain. At least, that's my strategy:). This is probably my all time favorite level in Myth I.
