: It also stems from the fact that it seemed Bungie
: intentionaly left out alot, such as the names of all
: the Nine and the names of the Fallen, either in hope
: of making a Myth 3 themselves set further on, or in
: order to give the mapmakers room to create them in a
: M2 follow up, then again it may have been they were
: trying to entice the imagination of the players.
You know, I think Bungie left a lot out because they had no need for it in the story they wanted to tell, which left the player guessing by design. The game was created to tell snippets of a greater mythology based on our own world's mythologies but with an original spin.
I think the original design called for much more real-world mythological references but the designers needed to exercise their creative muscles and obscured the references for the final release. In which case, the unmentioned pieces would be available for all to find within our own culture and history.
I think the name Myth was originally a lot more literal.
