In Response To: Thoughts on GURPS excerpts... (Forrest)

: In Tales From Myth TFL, the Trow were relieved that
: Connacht just buried them instead of "returning
: [them] to the One Dream". I would think, given
: the above about channeling gods' dreams, that all
: souls exists in a sort of collective dream-world, the
: "One Dream", and that the actions of mortals
: are the dreams of their souls. However, apparently it
: has something to do with politics of some "inner
: circle", as well.

This is something I was going to mention in regards to Fetch's magicness. Life itself is considered magic traditionally and some of the sources one can channel magic from might not be the gods, but just out there. Like the Force.

: It is implied that having power over Fetch - presumably
: the power to kill them - has something to do with
: sending them home. So, when Fetch die do they just get
: whacked back home by Wyrd? If so, why don't they all
: just rip off their skins, if they want to go home so
: badly?

He's not talking about killing them in general. he's talking about a specific spell called banish.

: PS: Milk, did you ever find your "proof" that
: Fetch definitely are magical energy beings and that
: their lightning is them zipping out of their skins and
: back in in a flash? (I think they're humanoid but with
: weird features, horns and spinal ridges and such, but
: when Wyrd smites them they are vaporized or something;
: and that their lightning is a magical ability
: channeled from their gods).

Okay. Now I understand what you were saying. You kept insisting that they weren't energy beings, but I thought you were arguing the glowy stuff they're made out of isn't energy. This makes sense. It explains the horns and ridges, which aren't explained otherwise. I think you could be right here. The Fetch as an energy being came about because of the trail they leave as they go up. It looked like an energy being to some. However, I have an alternate explanation.

The streak we see going up into the sky is the Fetch's soul. If the sking is badly damaged, Wyrd sees them and yanks their sould out. When you blow them up, it saves wyrd the trouble, explaining the lack of a streak.

btw, I found it interesting there was a Dwaren Strongholds heading under the Great Devoid. Any theories on why this must be?
