: It's actually an interesting debate, but often the
: arguments turn violent and somebody ends up getting
: shot. I think that many Myth fans do not consider Myth
: 3 to be canon. Some people, such as myself, consider
: the story to be so off kilter in regards to the
: backstory presented in official sources that the title
: "Myth" is misleading. Others have made
: respectable efforts to reconcile the conflicting
: stories. This really becomes an issue when somebody
: posts a theory in the Asylum which assumes that Myth 3
: is not apocryphal, at which point the first line of
: defense for those opposed to the theory is the belief
: that Myth 3 is not canonical, and at the end of the
: day someone pulls out a switchblade. I think that, for
: safety reasons, everyone should assume Myth 3 doesn't
: really count for story information. Though I should
: mention that I hate Myth 3's story, and can't remain
: unbiased in all of this.
As Thy Olde Admin Who Art In Cyberspace, my official take on this issues as far as future Myth-anything goes is...
Premise A) Myth 3 sucks, story compatibility wise, next to Bungie's works.
Premise B) Myth 3 is official "canon" by the current owner of the franchise.
Therefore C) Any new Myth product should pay trivial acknowledgement to new things in Myth 3, while trying to "skew" the interpretation of those events back into alignment with Bungie's canon. And if we skip a few details of M3 (like they did with Soulless, Wights... everything) or change something to say history wasn't REALLY that way, people just THOUGH it was (like they did with Moagim & Mjarin), it's all fair play. :-)
