But Rabican has the home court advantage, so to speak...he can nuke himself at any time, whereas the Watcher presumably has to get close enough to kill Rabican quickly and cleanly. I envision him making his last stand atop a pile of satchels, match in one hand and Energon Cube in the other, just waiting for the Watcher to come into view...

For artistic purposes, I agree with you. :-) Rabican's wisest course of action would be to reduce his body to ashes before the Watcher could get his hands on it, but it makes a better story if he failed.
