Myth: TFL seems to mention "the Legion" as a specific group, not the whole army. "I guess the worst thing about having a reputation for being a bunch of hardasses is that the Legion always finds itself where the fighting will be ugliest." So the Legion, at least in TFL, doesn't represent the entire army. In my view, TFL saw the west as a besieged and broken land desperately trying to beat back the Fallen Lords with whatever was available. In Myth 2, the west was an organized and united kingdom with an organized army consisting of multiple legions. Also, I would make reference to The Black Company, but I think I'd be beaten.
