: Just wanted some opinions/mini reviews mb.

LR you're in for some fun, fast reading. The first book took my pants off. The second, Shadow's Linger, was a tiny bit slower but more complex, as it changes between different events and settings. But it will grow on you.

The third, the White Rose, was to me a literary orgasm. God, I loved that one. It really had quite a "climax".
Hreheh! Hahaha...! [insane cackling continues for about 5 minutes]

*Ahem*
Sorry.

Of course I mean that in a figurative, metaphorical sense. Cook doesn't really have any x-rated stuff, none that I can remember, anyway. It's just that the ending of the White Rose clobbered me with it's greatness.

If you ordered the Silver Spike (it's not technically a Black Company Chronicle but occurs at the same time as White Rose) then read it for the sake of completion. I did not like the Silver Spike much, IMHO it may have been the weakest of the 10 Black Company-related books. There are others who have totally different opinions though.

The two Books of the South introduce brand new scenery. Get used to it, because the days of the ole' black company aren't coming back. I say this because for me, it just took awhile to become accustomed to it.
Glen Cook begins with these 2 books to immerse us into the world of the south, which has elements of African and Middle Eastern cultures and religions.

After the 2 books of the South, comes the four and apparently final Glittering Stone, beginning with Bleak Seasons, then She is the Darkness, then Water Sleeps, and ending with Soldiers Live. I won't say anything about these because... my fingers hurt & I'm tired. Hey I'm honest!
