: In the thread "Identities of the fallen" (near
: the bottom) you posted a message summarizing the
: thoughts of varous posters, and at the end of the
: message you said: ---
: Sorry, but though some evidence points to this, I have a
: little superior knowledge. I talked to Doug Zartman at
: Macworld NY, and he told me directly that Bahl'al was
: another name for Balor. The Watcher, I believe, was
: one of Moagim's Fallen Lords.

I was quoting someone else (who I always disagreed with, but included for arguments' sake) there; that whole message (except the part on the very bottom, where I said "Any thoughts? I have some..." and then elaborated my thoughts) is filled with quotes from other people's posts that I had in my old archives of the Asylum when it was at Nontoxic (and, thanks to Claude, I now have a working archive of everything here, so watch it, people! I have proof, even if B.org HQ gets smashed by a meteorite!).
I've never been to any expo, much less a MacWorld, and I've never talked to anyone from Bungie in person. And I believe we pretty much discredited either the person who said that or the person who told them that; the prerelease info lists Bahl'al and the leader of the Fallen (Ashfear, now Balor) as two separate entities, and I'm going to take an official website over second-hand (third-hand to you, since I had to tell you what he claimed someone told him) informations.
: Eidos' pre-release info listed six Fallen Lords -
: Bahl'al, The Voiceless One, Soulblighter, The Faceless
: Man, Bonesplitter, and The Deceiver - lead by the evil
: demigod Ashfear.
: (Forrest on 10/18/29 at 3:37 a.m.)
Yes, exactly. Ashfear is their leader - so he equates to Balor. Bahl'al is separately listed as one of the Fallen, so he is not Balor.
: So, we have
: ----- Ancient Evils -----
: Soulblighter - Damas
: The Voiceless One - Watcher*
: Bahl'al - Balor
: ----- Turned From the Light -----
: The Deceiver - Myrdred
: Bonesplitter - Shiver*
: The Faceless Man - (unknown)
: and of course, Ashfear, which can be assumed to be the
: origional name of the guy we love to hate, the
: Leveler, who happens to be a Demigod.
I used the word demigod to describe Ashfear (knowing that he's Balor, the Leveller) - that wasn't part of the original website.
: Prove that the arm was a mistake =P
I'm on it. "Juan, Gary, could you settle a debate for us?..."
: I guess we can forgive you for forgetting about the fact
: that Balor = Bahl'al, after all, it's been 70 years
: (or maybe the archive dates are screwed up? Or i'm
: insane.)
: *We can assume that the Watcher is an Ancient Evil (he's
: been around a helluva long time), so i guess this
: means Shiver is either Bonesplitter or The Faceless
: Man (which SHE isn't). Another possibility is that
: Shiver is the Voiceless One, having a whisper dream
: etc. (although she'd have to be an ancient evil) and
: the Watcher could be Bonesplitter (he gnawed off his
: arm, that kinda counts?) but he was not turned from
: the light, so I doubt this.
: As stated above seems to make the most sense.
As stated above, since the person who claimed Bahl'al is Balor was mistaken, then all the evidence pointing to Bahl'al as The Watcher stands, so he is not The Voiceless One, and Shiver, not being The Faceless Man, is either Bonesplitter or The Voiceless One.
