In Response To: Re: "The Cycle has been Broken" (Heron Guard King)

: Hmm it's not very good example, because mb their high
: officer was a good man and didn't want take off their
: food. Or mb Legion had more eat than soldiers. It's
: also possible. So nothing here.

Except that no medieval army had more food than men. Provisions cost money, money that could be better spend equipping your troops. As for the suggestion that their commanding officer was a good man, firstly, the average Legionairre seems to have been fairly jaded to the suffering of peasants, secondly, from a military standpoint, being a good man is far less important than being a good officer- and a good officer does whatever's in his power to look after the interests of the men under his command.

: Yeah, if the all have swords and shields it doesn't mean
: that they were good equipped. I mean in the 17th year
: of war Light had a really small army and mb in the
: first years light soldiers were poor equipped, than
: more than half of light army died in battles and
: survivors gathered their sword and shields. And that's
: all, that's why they were well equipped.(remember
: Avons hope film, ;))

One major problem with that theory: your men can only loot the bodies of the fallen if they win. If they're driven back, looting rights go to the enemy. And judging from the narrator's words in the manual, the Legion seems to have done a LOT of retreating.

: And i don't think that recruits made eighteen months of
: gruelling training. In the great war it was
: impossible, Nine needed soldiers so they sent recruits
: in the battle and who survived this battle, became a
: good fighter. And i'm sure veterans tought recruits
: some fight tricks and other things.

Which is exactly what I just said.

: Yes they retreats even in game. In crows Bridge, when you
: plays in leg and you lost most of your guys(have left
: 1 or 2 warrs) they becomes uncontrolled units and
: flights from there. And i don't think i gave them the
: order to retreat.

Okay. That's two survivors out of fifteen. 92.5% casualties, on one level out of 25, making an average of 99.7% casualties being necessary before a Legion unit will rout. Name me one other military unit who're that stubborn. Spartan Royal Guard, maybe?
