Forrest! Is it really you, old man? How fantastic you're still around! How've you been?
: Which Elvish, Quenya or Sindarin? Or one of the more
: obscure forms?
Quenya I've studied mainly; I've only just started Sindarin, which led me to wanting to understand Irish first as they're similar in phonological mutation. As for the other forms, I'm only barely familiar with the Elvish cultures depicted in the Silmarillion, much less their languages (excepting the Vanyar and the Sindar).
: Party your year end off,
Haha, that's funny...
: -Tauron Erufailonissi
Ooh, Quenya! "Tauron" is ... not technically Quenya, but I think you meant "Tauro", meaning "of forest", or, adding an extra 'r', "of Forrest", implying the post is by you. "Taurion" would be the plural geneative of "taure," a great forest or wood.
Heh, the second name is delightfully ambiguously curious. "Eru" means "one," and I suppose you mean specifically The "One" God. If you imply "failo" to be a singular noun with "Eru," id est, "Erufailo," that would be the genative of "Erufaila," or "Godgenerous" (as "faila" means "just," "generous," "fair-minded," attributes one would expect of the All-Father), or simply "generous God". And "nissi" of course means "women."
So then that would make your signature literally, "by Forrest Justgodwomen."
Your middle name, "John," from Latin Iohannes, from Greek Ioannes, from Hebrew Yochanan, means "God [or Yahweh] is gracious," or generous, or fair-minded.
So, that means your signature means something like, "by Forrest Johnwomen."
: (P.S.: Major kudos to anybody who gets not only the
: meaning and significance but also the pick-up line in
: my Elvish name above. A hint since you kinda need to
: know it to get the significance part, my middle name
: is John).
Well, I got the first two parts, but I'm not sure on the pickup line ... If you had "i erufailanissin," it would essentially mean "the one [who is] generous to women," as a sort of title for yourself.
Unless you mean it as a pun! and word-for-word literally, in which case it would be, "by Forrest Godjustwomen," the second name coming out more emphatically as "God, just women!" Hehe. I still don't get it, but that's my best try. Maybe just a little kudos for ol' Archie anyway? *Grins piratically, as below.*
