: Sorry to ask, but what did they contribute?
This is what kills me. They actually did contribute a lot, but the fact that Blades, Spond!Max - and to some extent, Clem - acted like jackasses; it makes me not very appreciative sometimes.
MythDev was able to get the source codes for the games and do some fixes. Most notably to Myth III. Various patches were released because of them.
PlayMyth is also because of MythDev.
The Mill, in it's latest incarnation, was given Broadband and some hosting from MythDev. Otherwise it would have went down long before.
There are some other small items of note as well. Yes, MythDev did some good. But in all reality, MythDev is Blades; and Blades is MythDev. Despite the good, it's also good that it's gone. Maybe now the community can come back together.
Blades did a lot for this community, it's true. But it's also true that he caused some of the most recent destruction. There are many good people that may have left the community for good because of him. There are some good sites that are probably forever gone because of him as well. So, despite what good he's done, I feel it's been overpowered by his vindictive pull for power.
I'm not sad in the least to see MythDev gone. The community survived without it before, and it will survive without it now. It was a chapter in the community's timeline that may just need to be forgotten. It started out good, but it ended in tragedy. Good riddance I say.
