They appear less and less frequently, but they still make a final appearance on (IIRC) Across the Gjol.
I think part of the reason they drop out in M2 is that you get Herons instead, which are pretty much Warriors-plus. Still, I agree it's a shame that the most sympathetic and representative characters of the Light simply vanish after a while. Herons are cool, but they get too much gametime for a character class that's supposed to be that unique and special.
