: Whereas Myrdred's signature Binding Dream doesn't seem to
: ever have been copied very successfully, much less
: improved upon (unless perhaps by Balor). Which might
: indicate that it takes more personal talent and power
: to use than the Dream of Unlife.
Ah, The baron uses something to keep his brigands all evil, that Cruniac shakes off, and I'm sure other minor necromancers do the same thing, Soulblighter has Brigands and Dark archers who i'm sure also have that spell on them...
there might be another BINDING dream that doesnt mind will, but does phsyically that Deceiver used on Watcher, (And alric remember, champions, alric, binded in the air yadda yadda?)
: True. But this is an advantage the Watcher shares with
: The Deceiver--both can raise armies with ease, and
: thereby overwhelm foes they'd lose to one-on-one.
: Effectively, it makes them much more
: "powerful"...but of course they require more
: prep time to gather their resources than someone like
: Soulblighter, who can just grab the nearest glaive,
: stride out and start hacking away.
I know that the Deceiver can get MORE than one at a time, but i still beleive the deceiver is one of the 'small elite force vs Big giant Thrall force' (I think those fetch in 7 gates... Deceiver's) I also think that the Deceiver in Raw Physical and Magical power is NOTHING compared to ANY of the fallen lords, he wins with trickery, he's the deceiver!
its like "ah I am balor I crush you I have you now ::Snatch:: "eek loophole!"
lets look at each major person the deceiver has bested
A) Watcher in WA, Watcher has a spell that is incredibly powerfull (and seems to be taken from the black company, anyone remember the spell that swells the ground and causes it to burst, i think its in the book after Silver Spike...) The deceiver has his little puny thing, who SHOULD win? Watcher who DOES? Deceiver....
B) Alric, Alric is more powerfull magically (I would think) but The deceiver uses a combination of the Head and Trickery to capture Alric (He had to be in on the whole head thing)
C) Soulblighter 1) Uses the tain battery, he had it up his sleave the whole time
D) Soulblighter 2) Alric beat Soulblighter because shiver got his crow to stop him from escaping
E) Shiver, big D Used his shadey 'friend' tricky
The problems were, as always, his
: And incidentally, no one ever came up with a single
: weapon that could disable The Deceiver instantly. Not
: even shooting his missing eye at him. :-)
I say its that apple... You know the one. Why do you think he has it, so it can't be used AGAINST him.
: Overall, I buy the game's implication that Myrdred and
: Bahl'al are pretty evenly matched. More powerful than
: almost anyone else, but weaker than Mazzarin, or any
: Leveller or Savior at the height of his power
( i think alric is pretty weak actually and Watcher is stronger...)
As A side note they say the Watcher Bearly survived... I always thought that the watcher attacked Deceiver in 7 gates after tharsis exploded, deceiver falls into the water FROM THE WATCHER NOT THE LEGION and no one hears about him, and apparently he gets frozen in a month or so (remember its still cold in 7 gates only a bit of time for the volcano to be hot)
So the watcher won, but still bearly survived... where does it say the Deceiver was hunted down...
