In Response To: Wryd up? (Gothmog)

: we know that the leveller comes in the form of an evil
: that comes only every 1000 years
: we also know that his coming is associated with a comet
: that appears in the sky.
: and we know that when Wyrd made the world, he was divided
: from it and his dream shattered, leaving him powerless
: to controll its fate.
: so suppose that teh comet is actually the reflection of
: the world of the dead that appears in the sky and
: promotes the growth of dark sorcerors adn the creation
: of undead.

Could be, but the Dark's dominant for a whole age while the Comet isn't around--and then the next time the Comet presides over a *loss* by the Dark. So I wouldn't think it was really doing much to empower the bad guys.

And that's one bright and shiny world of the dead...

: now here is the catch. look at the dreams of wyrd that we
: have found. The dream of unlife, teh dispersal dreams,
: and all of the other dreams that the avatara use in
: battle. now if these are the dreams of wyrd, what
: makes us think that wyrd was a nice god. or a good
: god. we could look at the creations of wyrd. humans,
: skrael, fir'bolg. with our nature promoting wars and
: death and domination over one another. so, what makes
: us think that humans as well as the other wyrd races
: are not evil as well as wyrd himself.

Most Wyrd-worshippers seem to be nicer than most non-Wyrd-worshippers, though. Ghôls, Myrkridia, Spider-Cultists, bre'Unor...almost anyone who believes they're in contact with a god other than Wyrd is ordered by that god to do horrible things.

: in this case Nyx would have been the good person. the
: trow, the perfect beings, no lust, no wars amongst
: each other. only united against other races.

An interesting definition of "good." :-) Dwarves and Forest Giants and fir'Bolg don't seem to have much internal strife either, and manage to get along with some other races to boot; I would think that would put them a cut above the racial-supremacist Trow.

But of course every race thinks their own principles are justified above others'.

: so here we go. this would mean that while the world i
: mentioned earlier "rubbed" the evil
: sorcerors came to power, and wyrd somehow came into
: the world, taking the dtrongest physical form he could
: remember. the hero who defeated him. he would unite
: the evil sorcerors(the ones that knew he was the evil
: god) and attack the humans and destroy the world he
: created in an effort to destroy the failure that was
: his world, when he could no longer controll it.

So why would Balor have summoned the Fetch, who are supposed to be an abomination in the eyes of Wyrd? Or is that just a myth, and their inability to go about uncovered stems from another source?

: unfortunatly as the worlds began to separate, he weakens,
: and loses power, and then is defeated by a champion of
: the race he wishes to destroy. and then he would have
: his spirit ripped from the earth and would have to
: wait another 1000 years to come back and start the job
: over again.

As Grey says, though, the Leveller is usually defeated through trickery/strategy/overwhelming force--and doesn't seem to be particularly weak at that moment. And again, if the Comet's absence is such a blow to the Dark, how does it manage to maintain its dominance in Dark Ages?

So is Wyrd living on the Comet, then?

Interesting theory, certainly.
