Here are some thoughts, although not necessarily my final ones:

Damas - I'm not sure I like the Heron Guard captain thing either. So... nowhere does it say that the Herons were the only protectors of the Emperor either. It could be possible to have the Heron's as a general protecterate, with the Emperor also choosing a group of personal guards. Or, maybe he chose the best fighter in the land to be his sole bodyguard; and giving him to Connacht as a Captain when he named the Big C as a General. -- If he was a Heron, he could have been put into a special class, thus the glaive, which may have also given him a special status. Though, I don't like that either. I mean, a Heron is a Heron is a Heron. Also, if he was a Heron, the ritual he underwent may have been to prolong his life at an even better advantage than heron magics, but also giving him the increased hit points, as well as a special "eye" into the dark magics

Ravanna - I find the 'double soul' thing intriging. However, it may be too complicated. Let's say that she and Damas really did get married or whatever. They travel to the untamed lands, and Damas fallls into the dark magics. He tries to convince her to undergo the ritual with him, but she refuses. In another ritual, Damas is able to split her soul; the good from the evil (still within the same body); and the evil (being the stronger half) undergoes the ritual with Damas. Thus making the good Ravanna the Voiceless one. Then, during the Great War, when her soul is taken through Tramists mirror, it's actually the Good soul (tragic, I know). The Evil soul, too weak from this loss, makes the body appear dead. With the help from Soulblighter and 60 years, the Evil soul is able to fully use the body. However, the pure evil transforms (cases) Ravanna (the body) into the hideousness known as Shiver. When the Deciever fights her, he underestimates the power of her PURE evil, and dies.

Mjarin - No one will ever convince me that he was the leveller. I find that to be pure crapola. However, we need a Head ... Mjarin could still be the leader of the Warlocks, thus giving him the increased power. However, he is NOT the leveller. He could simply be a double agent type (like in-game). He wants Moagim to win, but he may know about the cycles. When Moagim is killed (which needs to be much harder, by the way), Mjarin will try to force a break in the cycle. When he is killed; his intense magical abilities will keep his head alive (again, nothing new). In the Great War, he will still be on the side of evil, but will use the light as his vengeance against Connacht. Thinking it won't matter, since he knows the cycles, he continues to help the Light, but also punishes them at the same time (the capture of Alric). Then, he causes a civil war to also feed his dark intentions as well, before disappearing again.

Myrdred - I've got some theories I still need to flesh out on him. True, he needs to be around to trap the Watcher. True, he needs to be around Ravanna at some point (when she's good) to know her true name. True - he needs to "Decieve" at some point, though I'm just not sure when yet. I'll get back to you guys on what I think later

Wights - nope! not supposed to be around yet

Soulless - From the Myth II Manual: One of Soulblighter's most successful experiments with reanimation;
so they shouldn't be around either
