: If I wasn't, I'd hunt it down.
: Have we ever figured out what if any the system the Cath
: Bruig used in naming Heron Guards?
: I know we know that goes something like Seven Tree Heron,
: but as far as how they picked it, such as The Month of
: the Heron in the Year of the Tree or something like
: that is what I'm wondering.
Heron names are loosely based on the Mayan calendar--days are described by a numbered cycle and a named cycle which are relatively prime (so you go through all combinations of name and number before a given combination repeats itself.) Heron names have one or two extra names in the middle, though.
GURPS says it refers to the date (maybe year, maybe year + day, I don't remember) of a given Heron's induction into the order, in the calendar of the old Bruig (before the A.E. dating system.)
: Anyway...sort of planning some fan fiction of the TFL
: era.
: Would it be likely to find women as Warriors in the
: armies of the Province? (Not as a default, but after
: Covenant fell at least.)
GURPS says yes, I'm not aware of anything that says different.
