I',m sure all of you ahve read up on how the Mayans were very studied in astrology. They knew patterns of the stars and sky and had an extremely complex calendar system. Hell, they even had a war over deciding how many days should be included in the full-cycle. Now mind you that the Mayan calendar was not just a simple 365.25 days a year, but probably dealt with a hundred year cycle or more. So to them years were not an accurate measurement in terms of the full cycle.
