But you are either presuming that new Eras (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH AGES! VERY IMPORTANT DISTINCTION, EVERYONE!) begin when the Leveller shows up, or what the the majority of an Era is Light and then a brief period of Dark at the end. I see it as this:
Date 0000: Light Age begins when Hero is born.
Hero grows up and starts fighting the dark.
Hero kills Leveller.
Light cleans up remaining Dark.
Light begins rebuilding...
Date 0500: Dark Age begins when Leveller shows up.
Leveller DOES NOT START WREAKING HAVOC IMMEDIATELY!
Leveller builds up huge forces of Dark over centuries.
Dark ravages the lands of men, pushing across the continent.
Dark reigns over almost whole land until Hero appears...
Date 1000: Light Age begins when Hero is born.
Hero grows up and starts fighting the dark.
Hero kills Leveller.
Light cleans up remaining Dark.
Light begins rebuilding...
