Hey guys remember me, Pyro! :) It has been a long time since I have been hereor played Myth.
Well back on topic... Yeah, I remember Myth TFL had a more desperate feel. Thousands were sacrificed to distract them to kill the leader, Balor. Then to destroy The Leveler entity they threw it into the Great Devoid where Soulblighter, the last fallen lord left that we know of, made his last stand. Of course we were wrong... he came back. Some of you say Soulblighter destroyed easily what took Balor 50 years... well I think you are forgeting factors like... the empire must have been large and powerful and Balor took it down... It must have taken a lot of resources to do that.. Maybe he lost too many resourses and his advances to the West became slow so he doesn't do anything foolish and gets his army killed. So the king was dead, the empire fell, thousands dead and increasing. The Nine banned together to form a resistance... Alric as the leader of the Nine. Each had there army and slowly fought the Fallen Lords. We are shown that the Fallen Lords are more powerful then the Nine so it raises the armies' confidence when one of the Nine had a dream duel with Shiver and won. Slowly the Fallen Lords were being defeated... but so were the Nine. One thing that might had slowed down Balor was his own Fallen Lords when they fought among themselves. For example The Deceiver and The Watcher don't like each other and fought more than once as you all remember. Then suddenly Soulblighter traps the Legion in the Tain (I had forgotten its name and searched... I kept thinkong "Tair" heh). Two of the Nine died while freeing what is left from the Legion and Alric. So Alric deviced a plan... to decapitate Balor and use the bulk of the Legion as decoy to the massive Dark army. It was risky but Alric did it. A lot of people died there.
To sum up... the empire was big and strong and didn't go down without a fight, Fallen Lords fought each other sometimes, the Trow were helping them, Forest Giants help us a bit, The Head was very useful to us, The Nine were stong leaders and didn't go down without a fight either, the Tain help the enemy, we took as many advantages as possible (recovering The Watcher's arm to defeat him, used The Head's advice to use Shiver's vanity against her, and his advice to destroy a world knot to eliminate an amush, etc.), and I think that is it.
In Myth II it was more like the leftovers coming together and fight a cripped army of the West. Soulblighter got allies like Shiver and Mauls and The Summoner to summon the Myrkridia, there is not a strong resistance as the empire used to be or The Nine, the Forest Giants didn't help us but we got unusual allies: The Deceiver and Warlocks and Trow thanks to smart Alric. We also got better technology... the Dwarven Mortars. Alric set a plan to conquer old Muirthemne... the empire was re-established bringing more confidence to the Legion and the Heron Guard were reborn... we also got Balmung. The reason Alric killed the Myrkrs so easily was because Alric is no regular man... he also has Balmung which helps a lot! The Deceiver and Shiver nuetrulized each other and cause The Deceiver took one of Soulblighter's raven Soulblighter could not flee and Alric dropped him into the lava.
So in Myth 2 there isn't as big of a force on both sides as there was back in Myth TFL. Some allies were lost in Myth 2 (fir'Bolg, Forest Giants, 8 of the Nine) and some switched to the Light (The Deceiver and Trow) and some strong allies joined the Dark (The Summoner, Myrkridia, Mauls). TFL had 9 avatars against 6 Falllen Lords and Balor. In Myth 2, they had Alric and The Deceiver against Soulblighter and Shiver. Both sides were cut down but made up for some of it with stronger alliances.. Fallen Lords fought against each other in Myth TFL but Soulblighter and Shiver didn't in Myth 2... the Myrks were tough and made the small force a lot stronger.
Just imagine if in Myth TFL the Dark had The Summoner, Myrkridia, and Mauls... we would have lost cuz the Myrks are very strong... Oh and in Myth TFL The Head caused a civil war while in Myth 2 no such thing happened. All I'm saying is that although in Myth 2 the Dark isn't as large they have better alliances and tougher allies then in Myth TFL and that is why it took Soulblighter to destroy in 1 year what Balor took 50 though most of the damage from Balor on the East was left untouched so Soulblighter didn't have to destory it again.
