Latin's great and I respect it greatly, but it has a complexity so vastly extremely it beats German as one of the hardest European languages. Italian, conversely, is like a streamlined version of Latin, having a much, much simpler and more efficient grammatical system, at least as much vocabulary, and a far lovelier sound to it, being as musical and poetic as any language has ever been.
