In Response To: Gower & the remaining Fallen Lords... (Pimpy™)

: : So yeah, I think that Balor conquered Gower first.
: And

: Here is one thing that bothers me, if you look at where
: Muirthmne (the seat of the Cath Bruig Empire) is in
: comparison so Gower, it seems awfully close. So close
: in fact that Alric could and should just take his army
: East to finish off all the remanents of the Dark
: forces. So the fact that it will take 400 years for
: that seems unusual to me.

I'd say less than 400 years. The Province enjoyed at least a hundred years' freedom from the Dark prior to the Great War. So Gower will probably be liberated in 200 years or so. Or maybe even less. My only point was that Gower will be liberated last of anywhere known to us.

: Now, I know this leads into the whole Shiver debate, but
: it is very important to understand which two Fallen
: Lords are still missing. We know (pretty much anyway)
: that the Faceless Man is one of them. He was converted
: from the Light so he is fairly inexperienced to say
: the least. However, depending on whom Shiver is, opens
: up a large gap between The Faceless Man and the
: remaining Fallen Lord.

Don't equate youth with inexperience. The Deceiver's rather young, after all.

: If Shiver is Bonesplitter, then there is an ancient evil
: that may still be around. Otherwise if Shiver is The
: Voiceless One, then there is a powerful Myrmidon back
: at Gower. One thing to note is that there are no
: Myrmidons in Myth II. Now, if Shiver was in fact a
: Myrmidon, then when she fell to Rabican, the Myrmidons
: lost their leader.

Shiver's not necessarily the leader of the Myrmidons, only the most powerful. Since each Myrmidon owes its existence to Balor, they're probably willing to serve him, or his delegates, directly.

: There are two possible explanation for why there are no
: Myrmidons in Myth II. the first is farily simple and
: is that when Balor died the power used to keep the
: Myrmidons alive failed and they all crumbled to dust.
: The second is that when Shiver fell in battle, and
: Balor after, they all returned to their homelands
: since there was noone left to lead them. This would
: not explain why they did not return in Myth II when
: Shiver did, however. So my first explanation proves to
: be a bit stronger.

I agree with the first, but I'd like to point out that if they did survive and returned to their homelands, they immediately got creamed by their neighbors and former kin, the berserks. None of them would have made it through the sixty years to Myth II.

: I would love to whole-heartedly accept that Shiver is
: Bonesplitter, but the fact that she has a Whisper
: Dream makes me reconsider. But then again she hardly
: seems like an ancient evil. The only referrence I can
: even find to her being old is from Tales from Myth
: TFL, where Moagim is mentioned. It has something to do
: with her weakness and as little follows after Rabican
: mentions his name. What exactly it refers to I am not
: sure however.

: So we know at least that more than likely The Faceless
: Man is still in Gower tending to the horders of undead
: there. Shiver is dead and if she was in fact
: Bonesplitter then there is probably a second Fallen
: Lord still around somewhere. If she was The Voiceless
: One however, then Bonesplitter probably died with all
: the other Myrmidons meaning that only The Faceless Man
: is left. Either way we have one, maybe two Fallen
: Lords remaining.

Or maybe none; some of them might have been killed at the end of the Great War, or in a revolt in the Eastern Lands which they couldn't quell without Balor's power, or in fights with each other. We really don't know. Good to list all the possibilities, though...
