: I have an idea about the names of Jmen. Tell me if
: someone has already said it.
: First part of the name is always a number, second is a
: creature a lot and each type appears several times,
: and third is a description of something (sometimes
: words).
: I think the first two parts are a date of birth. The
: number shows the day of the second part which could be
: a month or year (year of the tiger sort of thing).
: The last part is the one that seems to be most confusing.
: But it isn't.
: Native Americans used to name their children by the first
: thing they saw after the child was born. I think this
: is the same for JMen, perhaps being named for the
: first thing they saw after they became Heron Guard. It
: makes sense if you look at them using Fear.
Not a bad idea, I must say. You should look around Forrest's site for discussions about journeymen, though. Someone points out that the Mayans had some very similar names for their priests and such. Might be that Bungie got the inspiration from there. And since I know diddly about the grammar of the Mayan language, I dunno if it sounded less mysterious than it does in English.
