In Response To: Re: Bahl'al, The Watcher, Unlife, etc (Gothmog)

: as just another idea, seeing that i have no proof...
: maybe bahl'al is one of the dark gods, associated with
: the reanimation of the dead. the watcher could have
: been his earthly representetive, but when the watcher
: died, he would have been fairly unharmed, still able
: to pass on his knowledge to others.

: this would make the dream of unlife not a dream of wyrd,
: but a dream of bahl'al. it would have been a dream
: never intended by wyrd to pass onto his world, but
: when wyrd lost his train of thought, bahl'al and his
: other friends(i.e. the dark gods) slipped some other
: dreams into his world.

: this would also make it possable, that instead of the
: fallen lords being ancient heroes who were corrupted,
: maybe they died, of natrual causes, and when the
: leveller showed up, each dark god in turn took one of
: the heroes and raised he or she to be their champion,
: to aid the leveller in his quest.

: that might also explain the fallen lords names
: shiver could be the name of the dark god that ravanna's
: corpse serves

: the deceiver could be the dark god that myrdred's corpes
: serves, and by giving power back to this archmage, by
: the time of myth 2, he was able to free himself from
: the deciever's influence, but he retained the name out
: of habit.

: bahl'al i already mentioned

: and soulblighter could be the dark god that damas's
: corpse serves, but soulblighter(the god) decided that
: instead of letting go, he would try to use damas to
: impersonate the leveller, but failed, and eventually
: was forced out of the world, by his champions
: destruction.

: the leveller, therefore would be the reincarnate spirit
: of the balancing force that comes to power every 1000
: years, and due to the dark gods lust for death and
: destruction, they usually come to his aide.

Firstly, allow me to thank you for posting some total speculation. It's quite refreshing to see something of this nature after the past few days.

As for your idea, it's interesting, but it's baseless at large- the god Wyrd and the goddess Nyx are the only ones mentioned in the mythos of Myth, and they were neither dark nor light- they just 'were.'

As for inhabitance, well, play M2's Shiver again, and then tell me that gods are motivating corpses to bicker and argue in such a manner, about their past lives as humans.

Also, while I'm on the subject, I think Myrdred and Ravanna definitely had a 'thing' at some point before M2.

Myrdred being who he is, I also speculate that it's possible that he wasn't killed after his encounter, but he only wished it to appear that he was.

And, as long as we're speculating, the romantic in me likes to think that Myrdred spent his power to bring him and Ravanna to some alternate plain of existence, away from the endless wars and perpetual cycles of destruction and rebirth, to something simpler and maybe even beautiful.

In all likelihood, however, the Deceiver killed Shiver outright, like a murder-suicide pact sort of thing, which would definitely effect some variety of relief, but, as Jason Jones himself said (i think- don't kill me over this one) in a Macaddict TFL interview, "you can cut them up, pack their body parts in casks of salt and bury them in the corners of the world, but Fallen Lords can always be brought back."

Like the Head itself, chatting away about every little thing, I'm sure an old coot like Myrdred wouldn't let a little thing like decapitation and decimation stand in his way. But, I'm now way off track.

If nothing else, it sounds like a good basis for a short story or novel- the stories of impotent, dark gods that can only inhabit corpses, with their only goals being destruction and annihilation, and the gods of light that must stop them. Sounds good enough to me.
