In Response To: Re: Bahl'al and the Watcher (controversial) (~zeph~)

: Oh gee I forgot to play a level, you know the one where
: it says that Bahl'al is the only being who can make
: Thrall, so please tell me the exact qoute that it says
: that.

They are the Children of Bahl'al. Bahl'al is the only one ever mentioned seeking the Dream of Unlife.

The Watcher is associated with Thrall only because of their presence around him (just like every other fallen lord, especially Shiver), and the line about seven waves of Thrall attacking Mazzarin. He is no more the creator of the Thrall than Connacht is.

: Your also neglecting the fact that bahl'al is not
: mentioned once in Myth II in the present tense,
: suggesting that the man himself is Past Tense.

NO ONE is ever mentioned in flavor texts in the present tense, except in direct quotes, and then rarely.

Furthermore, Bahl'al's actions to seek the dream of unlife were long, long ago, likely during or even before the Wind age.

: Also if your right then the Level, "Into the
: Breach" and "Baron" are fairly
: pointless, becuase we go after this fat wobbly Baron
: guy instead of this powerful, one and only necromancer
: Bahl'al. The first 5 levels of Myth II suggest that
: the Baron is a necromancer. At the Beginning of Myth
: II they didn't think it was Soulblighter, they thought
: it was just some Baron with ideas above his station.

Are you familiar with exactly how many wars and battles across the globe were pointless? Lots of bloodshed for very little effect.
Off the top of my head:
The Battle of the Argonne Forest
Operation Market Garden
The Korean War
The Vietnam Conflict

The fact is that the Baron was only hoarding thrall, like Phelot at Avon's Grove was only deciding who dies and who goes to Bahl'al for a 'refit.'

: Yea but then corpses don't tend to stand up walk around
: and chop at things either, but hey they do in Myth.

Heh. You look at a thrall and say: "Hey, a corpse walking around."

I look at a thrall and say: "Hey, who gave him that battleax and that armor?"

It doesn't make sense to kill the supposed 'father of the Thrall' in one game, then see tons of them in the next.

When it comes down to it, the assumption is flawed, because it was based on an illegitimate process of elimination of 'facts' from a pre-release website from Europe. That's the whole argument presented by Forrest, who, as far as I can tell, was the one who championed the idea first (chat logs, forum posts).
