Thrall are tireless- they don't need to sleep, eat, excrete waste, or rest; they just keep going, which explains why the fallen lords were able to conquer the west with armies partially composed of thrall. Also, if you remember, Rhi'anon does have a functioning world knot, which could easily reinforce the armies there, had the Thrall been around at the time.
