: Actually, I would argue that here the facts and thoughts
: are more like first cousins. But, after the death of
: Henry, the thoughts rallied behind Empress Matilda and
: the Duke of Anjou, while the facts remained loyal to
: King Stephen's banner. 11 years later, Eustace is
: dead, William wants nothing to do with this, and Henry
: II has negotiated to become heir to the throne.
: Matilda gains nothing, though her progeny gain the
: throne, and Stephen is not looked kindly upon by
: historians. Later, the conflict between the facts and
: thoughts almost came to the destruction of the facts
: during the War of the Roses, but a political marriage
: finally ended the feud. This only proves that I have
: way too much time on my hands.

I think we're thinking of two different dynastic struggles...But its definately true you (and, me, for caring) have too much time on your hands.

Speaking of dynasties. Is the (Canmore, I believe) dynasty that died out in Scotland prior to Edward "Longshakes" interfering with Scotland the one that Malcolm (in Macbeth) was part of/started?
