With reference to the death-fever, I think he might be talking about Myth "reality" rather than game-play; that is, don't the wights pose a health risk for their living allies who have to march alongside them day after day? It seems that the fever is only communicated by touch (or big gobs of pus), so as long as the living units and the wights don't touch, they're safe. Maybe every Dark battalion has a designated chaperone to make sure the ghols don't touch the wights in inappropriate ways. ;)
