well in a lot of fantasy the OLDER wizards get the stronger they are. it doesnt seem like he's that adversely affected by age...
and yes i think DEFINATLY the watcher is a better Tactition, he won against the deceiver when he had an army and against mazzarin when he had those thrall, but one on one he's not as strong as either of them
though by the deceivers nature i would have thought his trickyness would have made him a better tactition and a worse sorcerer but the storyline proves that this isnt the case...
