Ah yes, coming to power through the Weimar Republic, but through it's weaknesses (Artcile 48 ;) ) and through some extraneous, how shall we say, illegal activites, such as Reichstag burning.
And there's the rub: an earlier post said that the head of a democracy [i]should[/i] enforce its citizens will. However, I've yet to see a democracy which has the abiltiy to defend itself: ie to ensure that its ruler doesn't do a Blair and fob off the population, and ensures that miniorities (such as pressure groups, political parties such as the Nazis and the current Sinn Fein which achieved/achieve power through the fact that people know they have no qualms about killing pople in (or out of) their way) can't exploit it.
Hence, as a direct consequence of this and the fact that there will ALWAYS be individuals who want their own way at everyone's expense, democracy is currently very curcially crippled and flawed.
