: I don't know why, but I was always under the impression

: Thrall. Take a quote from Crow's Bridge narration.
: "None of the people understand yet what is
: happening, and they are frightened" and "Did
: you hear what happened at Avon's Grove? There were no
: bodies. Yeah, what did they do with all the

: These people had never seen thrall, wights or soulless

: follows that The Watcher found the dream of unlife
: recently, and killed Mazzarin shortly thereafter.
Except for the fact that it's directly stated that he died in the Wind Age. "...and his death was the most salient victory of the Fallen during the Wind Age".
(Though that brings up a point - the Fallen were around in the Wind Age!? Maybe that doesn't mean THE Fallen Lords as we know them, but just of the Fallen in general - the epilogue says that many Great Heroes return later as Fallen Lords, meaning that "Fallen Lord" is a general noun in Myth talk, not meaning "The six sorceror-generals under Balor who lead the armies of the Dark in the Great War").
Anyway, I'd agree with your assumption that it SHOULD follow, if not for this: you'd also think most people would collectively remember the Great War only 60 years after it happened, but little Andir doesn't believe it, and apparently only bleary-eyed old grandparents actually remember it. The Wind Age was 500 to 1000 years ago. Is anyone gonna really remember that, or take it seriously if they do? I mean, today, if some guy disappeared, would people automatically assume he was captured and stolen away by devils or monsters? I mean, hey, we remember that people believed that sort of thing a thousand years ago, so why shouldn't we? Because we know better. Likewise, the people of Myth think they know better, that there are no walking dead except in little kids' scary bedtime stories. If only they were right...
