In Response To: Re: mantle of the leveller (Gothmog)

: yes olorin, maia of valinor, i think it is a little bit
: ridiculous. but i think that the other theorys on the
: leveller, are rather bad. i don't think that it quite
: fits. now mine also has many flaws as you asylumers
: have all so kindly pointed out for me, but why is it
: then, that all of the levellers that we see have
: horned helms.

(A) Horned helms look more evil to us today, so Bungie would know that, and knew that giving Levellers horned helms in their depictions thereof would act as another symbol of them as "badguy"; also, warriors in sort of primitive warrior cultures, such as Connacht (sort of on the barbaric side, even), often thought of horns as very impressive, and felt they were frightening to their opponents in battle; if you have good, polished, big horns on your helm, it can be something of a statement of your power and prestige, or perhaps your skill as a huntsman; and finally, horns do offer some extra protection in battle, though they are much more unwieldy.
(B) How many Levellers have we seen depictions of? We see one in the original two Myths, and one in M3. WHAT KIND OF SAMPLING SIZE IS THAT?!?

Oh, and gothmog, as much as I hate to point it out, you keep coming back with the same defenses, and that's not the sign of a sound theory. This may be something that we can argue about, but the defense is sketchy at best.
