I will, thank you, Seraphy. ;) And I know about it's originThat's exactly the reason I picked it as an example. It doesn't mean that you're coming into, for instance, into a purple room. It's not meant literally. It means that you're becoming royalty, coming into your birthright; since purple was the color associated with royalty in Europe, the expression makes sense, yet it, too, is not meant literally. And the Romans weren't very into purple... they seem to have preferred the color red. I can't remember for sure, but I think it wasn't until the days of Charlemagne that purple started becoming a dye highly desired by those in elevated positions.
