: One) It has been -sixty- years since the Great War.
: And Alric may look old, but he's almost as good with that
: sword as the battle mad berserks less than half his
: age.
As is the cutom for kings of Fantasy Worlds™ (just look at Theoden for example)
: Two) In the Middle Ages (Which is basically what the Myth
: world is, besides the magic) living that long was
: hard. Good doctors? In this time period? *breaks into
: hysterical laughter* Still, I suppose it wasn't so
: much people couldn't...as people -didn't- live that
: long.
First, this is a Fantasy World™ with MAGIC! And it's normal for kings to be long lived in a Fantasy World™. Second, you're missing the point. Basically, Alric is not that old so is a bad example of someone prolonging their life to escape the Leveller. zeph's argument was that if Alric can do it, why couldn't Mjarin? I argue that if Mjarin could ensure he had a as long a life as Alric has had so far, the Leveller would be willing to wait. (Hmm, weird mixed tense sentence...). To add, I don't think Alric would survive much past 100 years old unless the cycle isn't broken. In which case, Levellalric time!
