Connacht didn't die! It says he goes into the east, and it says absolutely nowhere that he dies, which would be a fairly momentous event! Alric also says that Balor had died before - Connacht didn't change to Balor (I think) until after possession by the Leveller. The Leveller seems to have a hand in changing people's names post-possession: Tireces becomes Moagim, Connacht becomes Balor. Though it's indefinite whether they did it before or after possession, the fact that they both changed their names, and that their first names are associated with their Hero aspects, while the second are associated with their Leveller aspects, this suggests that they probably both changed it post-possession. At any rate, the likelihood of Connacht dying prior to his possession appears to be slim to none. And if you'll think about it, Balor never actually dies! Even when his head is cut off, he's still alive, just headless. I doubt that even the leveller spirit is capable of fully resurrecting a person, so while it is possible to raise someone from the dead (Dream of Unlife), it remains impossible to restore them to full life!

Did you not see Alric in the beginning cutscene of M2? He is old! Sure, it's been fifty years since the Great War, but he was, what, twenty-something at that time? People can live to seventy-something, especially if they're king (access to good doctors, etc.), fairly easily.
