Trow don't have the characteristic efficiency that is attributable to all hive minds. A Trow wouldn't mindlessly sacrifice itself for the good of the whole (it would think about it first). Trow are definitely not ants. It is more that they have a unity that is impossible to achieve amongst some other races because of their devotion to Nyx, as zeph said, and because they have been living with the same people for the past who knows how many thousands of years. They know how to work together.
