My thoughts on Trow defeatwere based highly on the no kids idea. And Connacht just was at the right time to defeat them. First they fight the Sileh'hei, lose a few in early strikes, zip from there on. Callieach they probably had thier race halved. Oghres got them down even more. And then they trow away their weapons, (Trow gettie, no, ah well.) so they were easier to take out than what the Callieach contended with.
: That also brings up an interesting point in the Myth
: world, or any other fantasy one that someone would
: like to discuss (I don't care, but if it's one I've
: never heard of, odds are I won't be able to take part,
: for better or worse)
Obviously the entire thing is about buttered monkeys and toasted suits.
: Is magic
: A) Something that you are either born with the ability to
: use or not. Either you're born with the full powers
: you'll ever have (untrained, but the potential won't
: increase with training)
I'd say there may be a hint of this, if your father/mother is a mage then you might inherit some, or obviously if your the Savior, but I doubt its compulsory. No 7th son of a 7th son, stuff. (Actually my Dad's a 7th son of a 7th son.)
: B) Something can you might be born knowing how, might be
: able to be taught how, or simply unable to use.
I'd say most mages would learn it, learning basics and then learning more and more. Going to a universities or being apprenticed to a mage. Some may be natureal or others may be complete Rincewinds. But not due to god given talent, more like some people find Maths or Languages simple while others can't get their head around them.
