: There doesn't seem to be any concrete reason WHY
: Connacht, the great hero became Balor, total evil, or
: the same for Damas. What event changed them? Or was
: this all predestined. I always wanted to know about
: this. I think that Damas wanted power, too much, and
: Connacht...I dunno.
Well, first off things are predestined in the Myth World. That is until Alric threw things off by refusing to be killed by Balor and disrupted the Great Cycle.
From what I've gathered over the years, The Leveler, a spirit that seeks only conflict and destruction, comes to the earth every thousand years to wage a great war against the forces of light. This spirit is extremely powerful, and can possess even the strongest of men. Therefore, Connacht likely had no choice in what happened to him.
(the following may be outdated since I've not played Myth 3)
Damas on the other hand... Damas was Connachts second, and fiercely loyal. He was also arrogant. So when he found a way to preserve his life past the norm, he jumped on it, even though it involved dabbling in the Dark Arts. This, I think, is what eventually twisted him into Soulblighter. As an evil being who's only love was war and death, it is only natural that he joined his old leader when Connacht returned as Balor. What confuses me about Soulblighter is that as Damas, he was ordered to hide many powerful magic artifacts that included The Total Codex, yet as a Fallen Lord he only made moves to secure these items until late in the Great War.
There's actually been a lot of discussion on weather Soulbligher was really Damas reborn, or another being entirely. I don't know what was settled on the issue.
: Someone...enlighten me please
Are you thus enlightened? ;)
