: I don't think so. He was a king, remember?
Actually, it doesn't say that Caliban is a king anywhere in our info on him. My original point was that, while Caliban MAY have been a king, the info we have on him points to him being an Avatara, with no word on his royal status.
:We know Mauriac was Regent earlier in the war, which means
: that Caliban must have died before this time.
I believe Mauriac was Prince Regent of Madrigal, because Alric was too young to rule at the time of the city's destruction and/or murder of its ruling family. To my knowledge, there is no single king of the entire Province.
However,
: since Alric was one of the Nine, it's likely that
: Caliban would have been One in his time, too: he
: certainly thought it worthwhile to have his son Alric
: trained in the ways of sorcery and the sword, and
: probably by the best tutors gold could buy.
A likely course, although your association that Caliban is Alric's father is based on the kingship argument, and even if Caliban was the king of Madrigal, it doesn't mean that Alric had to be his son to be his heir.
