: Useless info, 'ey?

: How about some stuff on Frederick Barbarossa?

One of the Holy Roman Emporers, I believe; he led the forces of the HRE to the Middle East on one of the crusades, alongside Richard the Lion-Hearted and... whoever the heck was leading France at the time. The crusade ultimately failed: France's forces packed up and left because of political differences with England, and most of the HRE forces left after Frederick Barbarossa drowned in a river (wearing full armor, too).

Oh, and another MHR: There was a Cardinal Mazarin who helped lead France alongside Louis XIV during the 17th century.
