As I am currently taking Euro History in school, I can back up your claim. ;)
his kingdom broke up between his sons, and later, one of the seneschals or something of one of the kingdoms, whose kings had become weak (so the seneschals or whatever actually ran the kingdoms) took over and reunited part of the original kingdom, and that guy was the ancestor (great-grandpa, or grandpa, or something) of Charlemagne, first of the Holy Roman Emporers.
