: I think of it as being more a case of Berserkers being
: the elite of the Legion. As the game progresses, the
: Commander (ie. you) is sent into missions of a far
: greater strategic significance than those that took
: place at the start. The Legion still contains Warriors
: (in fact, they probably make up the bulk of the
: troops), but the fact remains that they /are/ just
: rank-and-file troops, and for missions like
: decapitating Balor, you need troops with more
: backbone.
: You can see a similar thing in Myth3. In Connacht's final
: attack on the Trow and in his final blitz against
: Moagim, you normally get a roughly even mixture of
: warriors and berserkers, since your army probably
: represents a far larger number of troops scaled down.
: However, in those missions where Connacht is sending a
: small strikeforce to do something improbably heroic,
: he just sends in berserkers and a few heron guard.
Simple fact is that warriors are fodder for myrks and maul, the two major melee units for the dark after Landing at White Falls. If the level designers at Bungie wanted to include warriors on latter levels, they would have to have given us far too many units to be fun or manageable. Using berserks was a level design decision, not a storyline one.
