(A) If you're pointing out the gravity well, then yes, that sort of looks like a hole. Otherwise, a black hole is a globular hunk of matter that's floating through space. (B) I'm just using the currently accepted theory, of course. Nobody's actually been very close to a black hole before; at least, nobody who's records are surviving.

In the normal sense, I meant. As in, if you go into a black hole, you're not going to be instantly transported to a million years ago. the speed that time goes by might change, but that's not what he was talking about.
