To be fair, we don't actually /know/ that the Summoner was evil. For that matter, we know very little about his personal motivations. However, it must be noted that he doesn't seem to have done anything particularly evil before Soulblighter discovered him, and it is possible that he may have simply been threatened and intimidated into doing Soulblighter's will (I know I'd be scared of someone who massacred my entire home town to get his hands on me). As for what would have happened if the Summoner had served Balor, I suspect that the Summoner simply had a freak talent for the resurrection of the ancient dead, and not Myrkrydia in particular- Soulblighter simply selected the Myrkrydia as his subjects because they were the most ferocious fighters he had ever encountered. Had the Summoner served Balor, it seems likely that he would have been set to the resurrection of a more suitable set of allies, like the Oghre, perhaps.
