In Response To: Re: Fallen Lords, Avatara, Lieutenants... (The Crimson King)
: I remember the discussion about Phelot decimating Avon's
: Grove and The Deciever being around that area most
: likely being Bahl'al, etc. etc. That all sounds pretty
: good, but now I can't see why he couldn't be The
: Voiceless One.
Wha..? The Watcher was nearest Avon's Grove. He is Bahl'al. Phelot was his shade; we know Shades can change masters, as Phelot went from SB to Shiver to the Deceiver in Myth II alone.
And you don't see why who couldn't be the Voiceless One? The Deceiver? The Deceiver is himself, and nobody else. (See below)
: Which one of the Fallen Lords were ancient evils and all
: that? A list without any conclusions woult be
: appreciated.
Ancient evils:
Bahl'al
The Voiceless One
Soulblighter
Turned from the Light:
The Faceless Man
Bonesplitter
The Deceiver
All of them lead by Ashfear.
Ashfear is now called Balor. We've concretely equated Bahl'al as The Watcher, and Soulblighter and The Deceiver are themselves, of course. Thus only Shiver is missing from the list, so she must be The Voiceless One or Bonesplitter (as SHE can't be The Faceless MAN).
: Has anyone saved that old homepage by any chance...?
I certainly hope so, I would love to get my hands on all the info contained therein.
: Damas seems to have more and more twisted each time he
: went to the Untamed Lands. It doesn't seem though he
: did all the rituals to achieve immortality just
: because Balor told him to do so. Soulblighter seems to
: have a will of his own in a lot of matters and plenty
: of it, too. If we argue that Damas was evil, then we
: might as well say that Connacht was evil, and that's
: just silly. Maybe he simply went the same path as
: Connacht. Obviously The Leveler isn't the only one
: that is bent on distruction. The Deceiver was in two
: major wars against the Light that we know of. Couldn't
: he have chosen to do so quite a bit on his own?
What two wars awas the Deceiver in, against the Light? He was Myrdred, an avatara of the Wolf Age, and thus a good guy fighting against the oncoming Dark. Then he was The Deceiver, fighting against the Light under Balor's control. Then he was freed from Balor's control and turned to fight against Soulblighter (who he no doubt fought before Balor turned him from the Light).
As for Soulblighter, I suspect he was always covertly evil, or at least corrupt. Then, while campaigning in the east, he discovered the secret of immortality through ritual sacrifice and self-mutilation. So he became Soulblighter. This could have been before or after Connacht disappeared, but I'd wager it was certainly before Balor showed up.
