: In my frequent readings, I came across something
: interesting. The Myrmidons were actually greek
: warriors. These same Myrmidons fought with Achilles at
: Troy. They are referred to as soldiers that obeyed
: their orders without question no matter how gruesome
: or morally wrong the orders were. Myrmidon is still
: used to describe someone as a subordinate that follows
: orders unquestioningly (sic?). I was thinking that
: maybe the myrmidons were created in Myth based on that
: definition- following Balor without question. Then
: Mumbo Jumbo created their own definiton about the name
: in MWA about them attacking and killing mykridia
: (sic?). I just thought that that was interesting. If i
: can I will see if i can get the whole passage about
: them from Bulfinch's Mythology, which if you want more
: info that is the book to read.
First: Yes, yes, yes! We've all heard all about many allusions that the makers of Myth... made. Myrmidons is one of the topics of those allusions that has been hit upon at least 3 or 4 times since I started posting, which was hardly more than half a year ago. It's probably been talked about for who knows how many times before then. And I'm sure that one of our benevolent, all powerful, neat-O Admins has hit upon it in the Delusions section. So, in short, almost everyone who has been here for a few months or more knows this. We know that Myrmidon means "ant" in greek (or something like that). But, thanks all the same for going out of the way to tell us; just next time, try and make sure that it hasn't been hit upon too terribly many times, k? =)
Second: What are you wasting your money on Bullfinch's for??? (as one might be able to tell, Doom is no fan of Bullfinch's... [term for a male cow])
Doom. ; )
