Personally I think that the Deciever faked his death with Phelots help so that Alric would think that he was dead. Just like his namesake you just cant trust him.
There was no mighty explosion when he died and he must have known what would happen if he took Shiver on and defeated her. But most of these inmates wouldn't agree with me and think that Im just GURPy.
If I had designed that death scene at the end of the level (Shiver) I would have at least made Myrdred screem out "NO!" and had a second explosion or something other than him just stand there and wait for the explosion to happen but thats just me.
