Bungie do not own the rights to Myth anymore. They are no longer making money off the franchise. It is not in their best interests to spend man power and resources which they could be using for their current projects on a game which will bring them nothing in return.
I'm far happier for them to be concentrating their efforts on Halo 2 and the Phoenix replacement than spending their time losing money so cool new games don't get made.
So, you might say: "Why did they sell the Myth franchise anyway?". In 1999 Bungie were in a very poor financial state. Take 2 approached them with a bid to buy a share in the company. Bungie agreed to 19.9%. When Microsoft incorporated Bungie into their Action and Strategy group as an independent studio in 2000, Take 2 were handed the rights to Myth and Oni as per the conditions of the merger. If the Take 2 bid never happened, Bungie may no longer be around and cool games like Halo would never have been made.

This forum is for story discussions so it's expected that we concentrate first and foremost on the story Granted, we can talk about how TFL and M2 didn't have fancy 3D graphics or swirly animated menus but that was not the intention of your original post. Besides, I find TFL and SB far more enjoyable gameplay wise anyway. And let's not go into the multiplayer issue.
The fact remains that Bungie's Myth series was far more polished and complete than Myth 3 will ever be despite the work of the Myth Dev team. None the less, there's no use putting the blame on anyone for "letting this happen".
So, let's just try to get along and accept a few things, and show some courtesy to the forum regulars who have had to suffer countless posts like these from people who just don't read what's already been said.
