: Two reasons. First, the only similarity between the
: Damas/SB units and berserk units is that they don't
: wear shirts. While this could be considered a point of
: proof, it's hardly ironclad, seeing as how trow don't
: wear shirts either.

Consider their jewelery (arm bands). And the no shirt thing. :) Looks like the same/similar culture to me - mb Ravanna's influence? In fact, I've just checked out M3 Damas' look, and this idea gains more credibility in my mind, seeing as how he has no arm bands, but bracers instead in M3, which would be more in keeping with the well-armoured Heron Guard (he's gotta have some armour, other than his greaves).

: Second, berserks give up the use of a shield so that they
: can swing their swords with two hands (per the
: storyline). I've never heard of a fighting style that
: uses a glaive and a shield though--a glaive is a
: two-handed weapon. So Damas never gave up using a
: shield--he never used one.

You know, maybe they like using the style of a two-handed weapon. I've never heard of a style of fighting that has a claymore and a shield. That made a s much sense as your previous post - no shield = room for glaive/claymore.
The fact that they both use two-handed weapons, whilst not a point I would base anything on (and haven't), is more concrete than "Zerks may have used shields, I decalre that Damas' people never did."

: Conclusion? No true evidence to support Damas being a
: northman, and evidence pointing to him being totally
: distinct.

When I said "Look at M2 manual/box cover", you must have got the wrong cover...

: Side note--I don't think he should have been a heron,
: either. MJ might as well have made his a fir'Bolg, it
: would have made as much sense.

I'm not saying he was one, just it could have been so.
