I think many people misunderstand the status of those who have been with this site for some time.
We know what we're talking about, for the most part. Not just because we've been around. But because we've seen hundreds, if not thousands, of theories come and go, reappear, disappear, become refined, disputed, overcome dispution, and eventually either fade away into ridiculousness or become the understood rule. There are many things that we simply KNOW, just by being exposed to it for so long. Granted, we still disagree on a number of points, but there are a lot of well travelled roads that we all see as going in the same direction.
Those who are newer to the site may know the answers to questions, but we have the advantage of knowing how those answers came about, what caused things to be rethought, why things were thrown out the window, and we've seen theories go through hell and back before reaching a final "draft", if you will. Thus, most of us have an understanding not only of those theories which apply to the game, but as to those which dont, and why they dont, because we've seen them proposed before.
At least, thats my point of view : )
