Yeah. He's wrong.
Two reasons. First, the only similarity between the Damas/SB units and berserk units is that they don't wear shirts. While this could be considered a point of proof, it's hardly ironclad, seeing as how trow don't wear shirts either.
Second, berserks give up the use of a shield so that they can swing their swords with two hands (per the storyline). I've never heard of a fighting style that uses a glaive and a shield though--a glaive is a two-handed weapon. So Damas never gave up using a shield--he never used one.
Conclusion? No true evidence to support Damas being a northman, and evidence pointing to him being totally distinct.
Side note--I don't think he should have been a heron, either. MJ might as well have made his a fir'Bolg, it would have made as much sense.
